Life is tough! We all face challenges and experience struggle in our lives. Sometimes we need reminding we have the capacity to overcome our challenges and manage our struggles. Therapy is a great opportunity to gain new insight and perspective, find meaning, increase skills, increase self-worth and self-confidence, and connect with someone, a guide, who will walk the wellness journey with you on your path to greater health. My background working with adolescents and families in rural (and not-so-rural) communities across Alaska provides me with unique insight and expertise to support you as you navigate your wellness journey.
My name is Meg Wright and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I grew up in Southeast Alaska and have served fellow Alaskans in many inpatient and outpatient settings. My counseling approach is tailored to meet each client’s goals and integrates evidence-based therapies with modalities such as experiential, adventure-based, and expressive-arts therapies.
Therapy is a challenging process. Trusting someone with your fears, painful experiences, and desires for greater health and wellness is not a decision you make easily. The therapeutic relationship serves to promote self-growth through creative collaboration to empower, motivate, and support you in strengthening deeper connections and living your best life.
Experience
Meg is a Licensed Professional Counselor and graduate of Alaska Pacific University where she earned a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Alaska Anchorage and her passion for literature, art, and music can be found interwoven into her therapeutic work with clients. Meg began her career working with children and teens in inpatient acute care and residential treatment before heading to the far North to work in tribal health. She has worked in many communities across Alaska in several capacities including rehabilitation and recovery, wilderness therapy, community mental health, and now private practice. Meg is most passionate about outdoor behavioral healthcare where the whole person is engaged in meaning-making for the mind, body, and spirit.

More Than Just My Work
“The land knows you, even when you are lost.” -Robin Wall Kimmerer
When I’m not busy being a therapist, I enjoy: Sitting on Bishop’s Beach getting lost in the sound of the waves, trying to keep up with my amazing doggos, writing lyrical prose and poetry, baking yummy desserts for friends and family, backpacking and kayaking around Alaska and Hawaii, and playing music…allll the music.
An interesting anecdote about me: I once had a brief (but close!) conversation with a black bear who found his way into the outfield while I was playing softball.
